Telespond Senior Services provides individualized and community-based therapeutic, social and health-related services to older adults for full or partial days at our center in Scranton. Our team provides active program and care for older adults , including those living with dementia, Alzheimer’s or disabilities. These services are available to residents of Luzerne and Lackawanna counties.
The Center offers dynamic activities designed for continuing education, community connection, socialization and fun. This is combined with some health-related services for those who require safe, supervised care outside the home during the day.
We also offer caregivers respite programs from the demanding responsibilities of caregiving. Telespond Senior Services operates extended hours five days a week to allow caregivers and family members to pursue normal work and school schedules. Our extended hours — which also include programs on Saturday throughout the year — designate Telespond Senior Services as an enhanced medical model. We provide:
- Registered nurses on staff for medical care as needed.
- Four levels of care appropriate for each clients’ respective cognitive and physical abilities.
- Assistance with eating, medication management, toileting and ambulation
- Therapeutic activities, exercise and mental interaction for all participants
- Transportation (door-to-door) service
- Healthy meals and snacks (those with special dietary needs are accommodated)
- Personal care as needed including bathing, grooming, and personal activities of daily living

We have a wide range of clients at the Day Center, from those who enjoy independently reading the newspaper, watching the news or playing cards to those who require more personalized attention and care. Our team assists with continual mobility assistance and personal interaction as needed, and all participants spend the day in a clean, safe and structured environment. The center includes indoor and outdoor activity areas — including a newly expanded patio and garden — that are accessible and enjoyed by our clients.

Physical and Occupational Therapeutic Services
We offer on-site comprehensive physical and occupational therapy which is another reason to choose Telespond Senior Services for your loved one’s care. Our contracted therapists specialize in geriatric rehabilitation and can assist with orthopedic conditions, neurological conditions and general debility. Our therapist is certified in the LSVT BIG® Program for Parkinson’s, a research-backed protocol to assist with enabling larger movements and improving the quality of life of those with Parkinson’s Disease. Strength and walking speed are vital signs to predict future falls and as one ages it is crucial to exercise to maintain muscle mass and subsequent functional ability.
When clients receive therapy while already on-site attending Telespond Senior Services’ day care program, the family and participants can alleviate additional transportation concerns. Mobile Therapy Services is our Medicare-approved provider. They also accept most major insurances. Most individuals do not have co-payments or financial liabilities for therapy services, but our team is happy to review each individual situation with you and your loved one to be sure. All services are furnished under Medicare Part B and are performed on a one-to-one basis. Patients see the same therapist for all of their treatments. A prescription for outpatient physical and/or occupational therapy from a referring physician is the only requirement to begin.
Transportation
Transporting a family member to and from an adult day program might pose a challenge. Telespond Senior Services provides door-to-door transportation to and from our adult day care facility in Scranton. Our trained drivers operate lift-outfitted vans to accommodate the needs of all clients. Telespond Senior Services’ vans are DOT-certified, licensed and insured. Our driving staff takes time to get to know the clients and families so they can provide the best individualized, professional service possible.
